JWs required to report medical information to elders
by Elsewhere inthere was an article, i believe in the awake!, that talks about a hypothetical medical worker who in a hypothetical situation comes to find out that a jw has accepted a medical procedure that is not accepted by the wts.
this hypothetical worker must decide where or not she will report the hypothetical violation to the elders.
does anyone recall where i can find this article?

how about the yearly (or monthly) insurance premium that must be payed by the congregation to, you guessed it, the wtbts.

Hands the title to the Society. Pays the loan to the society, pays the interest to the society, pays for maintenance and repair costs and pays the insurance premium for a building they don't even own.
Ok, why does this idea refuse to go away? The Society does not have ownership of the local Kingdom Halls, yet this assertion pops up about every other week on this board. Here in the U.S. anyway, each congregation has a local corporation that owns the Kingdom Hall.
That, and the one about that not everyone on the GB is of the "anointed" anymore. Sheesh...

Boring talks - elders not invited again

I thought I'd heard that the visiting speaker was supposed to get counseled on his talk afterwards, privately by one of the loca lelders. Usually it never happened, but I thought that was how it worked.

Just to be totally painfully nitpicky... that is an audio CD version of the Watchtower. There is also an MP3 version; for some reason they offer it in both formats at the present time.
I only know this because I saw a stack of these recently and noticed the two different formats, both types were current issues.

What's the last good fantasy or scifi book that you could'nt put down?
by Leander inso what's the last fantasy/scifi book that you read that was just so good you could'nt put it down until you were done reading it?
i need a few recommendations, i'm in the mood for a good book.. for me the last really good scifi book was orson scott card's "ender's game".
for a long time i avoided this book because i thought it was aimed at a younger audience, but after hearing so many people praise it i finally took a chance on it.

I just finished re-reading Ender's Game (first read it many years ago, might have been just a short story back then); now I am working through the rest of the series, almost finished with Speaker for the Dead. Its good too, but quite different from Ender's Game. I am looking forward to the books that go back and pick up the story on Earth- Ender's Shadow and its sequels.
Before that I started reading Stephen Baxter, awesome hard sci-fi stuff. Then there was Harry Turtledove's Worldwar and Colonization series, also very good. I see he has just written a follow-up which I hope will wrap it up.
Also read Peter Hamilton's Reality Disfunction/Night's Dawn series... more goodness...

Now for the JW response:
First of all, the Bible speaks of animals reproducing according to their kind. The Bible's 'kind' is not the same as what a scientist refers to as a 'species'. Although there can be much variation within a kind, it still remains as the same kind.
So yes, although there may be several different species of this cichlid fish, for example, the fact remains that they are all still fish. They have not turned into reptiles or amphibians.

but that he is only the mediator for the faithful & discreet slave class.
it then follows that most of the bible was not written for the rest of us who must rely on the eartly organisation as our mediator for salvation.

I still don't see any change re the other sheep... just the timing of the separating of the sheep and the goat. My understanding is that the 'other sheep' is the group of 'honest-hearted ones' who began to be gathered around 1935 and who would see the great tribulation.

What's interesting is that the Society claimed that the great crowd did not begin to be gathered too soon, that some of the original members of the great crowd would be around to see the the great tribulation. This was in one of the pocket-sized books from the late eighties... don't have it on hand. So again, another date that is an albatross around the Society's neck.

This is before the other sheep were eliminated as an already identified earthly class in 1995. Now, either the great crowd has to be separated from the other sheep, and if it is the great crowd has to be a heavenly class. If it is an earthly class and tied to the other sheep, it can't be identified yet.
Can you expand on this? What changed in 1995 in regards to the other sheep?
